Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!!!

I finally found the first Killer Tomatoes movie, HURAAAHHHHH :)

A movie combining my favorite genres: humor, sci-fi and horror. Although the musical bit is also fun. I had seen it as a kid (like I'm really mature right now) and just loved it. Found the second KT movie last year and spread some ketchup among my friends...

For those of you who haven't seen the picture:

The nation is in chaos! Panic sweeps the countryside! Vicious man-eating Killer Tomatoes have escaped from an experimental Government program, and have embarked on a rampage of wanton destruction!

NICE (burning) weekend

Well I had a really nice weekend. Some friends of mine came over and brought ridiculous amounts of chocolate and the latest episodes of Stargate, House and more.
We also chatted about the skit we are going to do for wolfcon SG12. It's going to be extremely funny, although it is going to be difficult to top the angry lemon from peg2.
Alas I'm not permitted to talk about it here, sorry! You will all have to come to www.wolfevents.com

I also survived the 'putting medicine into eye of cat'.
He is a lot better now and my flesh wounds are healing quite nicely ;)
Now I only need to deworm him and wait quietly for him to get something else that will result in huge vet bills...

Oh and this huge swimming pool and cafe burned down last night/morning (1 am). I was watching Stargate, episode "the shroud" and it annoyed me that I couldn't hear the dialogue due to all the screaming sirens. It later dawned on me that the sirens ceased every time they were in the vicinity of my flat. I was so caught up in the episode that I forgot all about self preservation! They send out 10 (loud) fire wagons!
Luckily nobody got seriously hurt.

EATING & SOBBING!

Didn't get the job :(

The other guy fitted more in the team, they said. I think they just needed more muscles, because the job is physically challenging. Or they just didn't like me...
So now I'm going change my personality and join a gym!
Or eat a ton of ice cream and pig out in front of the TV with a new Atlantis episode.

Choices, choices...

I'm NOT loosing it, I'm not loosing it, I'm not loosing it...argh...Who Am I Kidding!

Still no ape news, I'm going bananas...

On the up side, my friends returned from a wonderful Atlantis convention in England. So they are back and are coming over this weekend to tell wonderful tales about their quest to scare the actors with their "dutchieness".

Did I mention one of them dressed up a a lemon *g*
It's good to have friends that can out weird you!

And now I want my phone to ring, I wanna be Jane!!!!!!! (and have a Tarzan)

Cat trouble

I got a cat last year, rescued from a laboratory, who is finally trusting and loving me and now I have to catch him for a week, twice a day to put ointment in his infected eye. JOY!!!
So I got to single handled (note to self: need to get boyfriend for a week *g*) catch a cat that doesn't like to be held open up the tube and ONLY put the ointment in his eye.
Somehow I don't think this is going to end up very well...

If I don't post for a while that might be because the bandages prevent me from typing ;)
I do love him but cat's are damn scary when enraged!
Sharp teeth, four paws with claws and why oh why did I just buy that scratching device for him to sharpen his nails...

Job Interview

I made it through the job interview, hurrahhhhhh!!! They really asked some tough questions. How I felt about surplus animals in zoos. For those who don't know what surplus animals are: animals that can't be re homed or stay in the group and are therefore euthanized and/or they become food for the carnivores. For example goats, rabbits in the petting zoo or baboons, etc.
I do feel that animals need to be able to do natural behaviour. It's natural for animals to breed and care for offspring, it's in their genes and to deny that from them is cruel. But then again I'm not going to be the one to euthanize the little baboons when there are to many. Tough one.
Oh, and another question, I did an internship for EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria) in 2001 and they asked if I could mention all the 4 mission statements and how they applied to their zoo. Jeez!
They have 2 more candidates and I will know by the end of this week if I can escape the lori's...

Explaining the parrots...

Guess I'll start by explaining the parrots. I love them, really, but there are 90 of them and they are LOUD! I work at a bird zoo and for most of the time I look after 87 rainbow lorikeets and 3 scaly breasted lorikeets. Crap on your head every day, joy *g*

Anyway I'm going for my second interview on Monday to work at another zoo to work with chimpanzees. It takes at least 4 months before they accept you as a keeper until then they throw poop, aim their pee on you and hit you with sticks...

Should have listened to my mother and got a proper job!
